We're Running a Game Convention Honoring Dave Arneson: Arnecon 1

The Fellowship of the Thing, in partnership with the Estate of David Arneson, are proud to bring you the first ever official convention celebrating Dave Arneson and the Blackmoor Bunch

Set in an intimate locale in Minneapolis, Arnecon is a gathering honoring the creative genius of Dave Arneson and his game group, The Blackmoor Bunch. It is a panoply of game experiences - featuring miniatures war-games, board games, role playing games, and early computer games.

Come game with the gamers who appear in the film, Secrets of Blackmoor. This is shaping up to be the biggest meeting of the original "Blackmoor Bunch" in many years!

The Lost Dungeons of Tonisborg authors Greg Svenson, DH Boggs, and Griffith Morgan will be in attendance. Come meet Greg, and play Tonisborg with DH & Griff (Greg might even step in to play). There’ll be a book signing session too - come get your book signed by all three! Extra books (hard cover, soft covers, and paperbacks) will be available for purchase.

The Lost Dungeons of Tonisborg is done, in our hands, and it looks beautiful! Please keep an eye out tomorrow for an email asking you for updated shipping information. It's been a long time, and we're sure many of you have moved.

Update on the Tonisborg Book

We got a call three weeks ago from the printer saying the books were done. We were ecstatic and quickly rushed down to pick them up. At first glance, the books were exactly what we wanted to bring to you. The cover, binding, printing, and paper quality are awesome, but...

As you can see on the two close-up images on the right - the pages were trimmed wrong - on some pages the art was cut off.  It was very disappointing, to put it mildly. We wanted to hold off on any updates until we had something positive to get to you.

The good news is the printer and bindery are making it right - they have reprinted the books and are now rebinding them. They say have them next week - which we hope will happen. They've been doing books for quite a while, and these things are bound to happen.  When they get it right, we'll get it right out to you.

Tonisborg Book Update - The Supply Chain Sucks!

The good news: the books have been printed - and they look great!

We have all of them sitting at Denver Bookbinding, waiting for their covers. 

The bad news: the bindery was having trouble sourcing purple fabric for the cover.

The pandemic is still having an effect on the supply chain, and strangely enough, the February storm in Texas is also still causing problems with manufacturing. It took a month to find out that the color & fabric type we wanted was not going to be available anytime soon.

We suspect that someone somewhere is wearing our book cover fabric as a covid mask.

All is not lost - Gail, of Denver Bookbinding, invited us down to look for alternatives since we had decided not to wait any longer. In the process of reorganizing the facility, she had just found some older, higher-quality fabric with better color hiding in the depths of her storage room. Now, The Lost Dungeons of Tonisborg will be covered by The Lost Fabric of Denver Bookbinding.

Now, we are just waiting for the die for the foil stamping - which should come in the next few days. Denver Bookbinding estimates they'll have these done within three weeks, but that is a conservative estimate.

We greatly appreciate your patience. The book is looking fantastic. We can't wait for you to get it into your hands.

Tonisborg Is At The Printers!

The Lost Dungeons of Tonisborg is complete and at the printer. We're just waiting to hear back from them. For all those waiting to get their copy - it's being converted into a real, solid actual book as I write this. We'll keep you updated as the process continues.

We've hired Egan Printing and Denver Bookbinding (both in Denver, Colorado) to handle the production - they combine over 100 years in old-school quality, using the latest techniques.

Here's a little animated preview of part of the book (we made it for fun using some demo software and our production-ready output - note the crop marks and other stuff on the pages ):
